Martini Me Fatso
Matt Berninger
I first came across this song in late July this year, where it had been discovered via the then new AI Music Release Agent, with a title like that it’s hard to forget.
For reasons I do not recall, it did not make the cut, and was not included as a ‘Release’ at the time, but hey, we can all change our minds, right?
On (this) second listen, I have to admit it’s a great Indie Rock song, even if the ‘break’ around 1.44 in needs a little getting used to.
Matt Berninger is primarily known as the frontman and lyricist of indie rock band The National, the American rock band from Cincinnati, Ohio, formed in Brooklyn, New York City, way back in 1999.
Like a lot of things music American, even groups like The National get lost in World Music noise. I only really caught up with them with ‘Tropic Morning News’ from the album "First Two Pages of Frankenstein" released on April 28, 2023, which I did feature on the old Streamusique blog at the time.
And why the gap between the ‘discovery’ in July and ‘release’ last Friday? That’s the new done thing: pre-release a single very early, then include it in the next new EP or album.
So what do I know about music marketing?!
Great song!
